Best Gifts for Mothers Day 2017

Mothers Day 2017 is just around the corner, Sunday 26th March to be precise, so we would like to present some of the best gifts to buy for your mother.

This special day, which comes around every year, is celebrated in the UK exactly three weeks before Easter Sunday, hence why the date changes every year. Traditionally called Mothering Sunday, this event was historically the first of it’s kind. Originated in the UK as early as the 1600’s, Mothering Sunday was a day where people, mainly children, visited their ‘Mother Church’ or the church nearest their home.

After visiting church, children would then meet their mothers and present them with gifts such as flowers – which traditionally were collected along the way home from church.

Since these times Mothering Sunday has become much more commercialised and the Modern day event, which has adopted the title Mothers Day, is all about children giving their Mothers flowers and gifts to express their love for them. The US celebrate in much the same way, however their Mothers Day always falls on the second Sunday of May.

If your mum loves books but you’re clueless as to which she’d like then vouchers for stores such as WHS Smith and Waterstones are a great solution.

Restaurant – Another fool proof idea is to take you mum out for lunch or dinner. Expect many places to be fully booked over the Mothers Day weekend but you can always go before the day or after. Afternoon tea is also another good shout.
