Are You in Danger or at Risk of Falling?

Falls are the largest cause of emergency hospital admissions for older people, and significantly impact on long term outcomes. Falls account for up to 40% of ambulance call-outs to homes for people aged over 65. More than 1 in 3 people over age 65 fall each year, causing serious injuries and sometimes even death.

For those over age 75, falls are the leading cause of death by injury. The effects aren’t just physical either. Falling can knock a person’s confidence, instilling them with a fear of falling again that plagues their everyday lives.

Less than half of fall victims seek help to prevent it happening again. Often this leads to a move to residential care. It can be very difficult to discuss the situation with family or healthcare providers. As such, this is often the reason that older people fall not just once but several times.

This is why it is especially important to arrange a Careline Alarm system before it is needed, and before it is too late.

How the Alarm Works

Our personal alarms come in two parts – the base unit and the MyAmie Pendant. The base unit needs to be plugged into your existing landline telephone socket and a power socket; your telephone is then plugged into the back of your new alarm.

The MyAmie Pendant can then be worn either around the wrist or around the neck. It is completely down to the preference of the wearer how they choose to wear it. Both attachments can be found inside the box.

If you do suffer from a fall, or if you feel unwell, then you simply need to press the big button on your pendant or base unit. This will begin the following quick and simple process:

  • The alarm unit automatically calls our Platinum Accredited Care Team when you press your button, and they will answer within seconds.
  • The Care Team talk to you over the alarm loudspeaker to identify the best course of action, providing reassurance.
  • Depending on the situation, our Care Team contact a neighbour, family member, friend, or the emergency services if they are required.
  • The Care Team will also pass on your medical details to the paramedics so that they know what to expect when they get to your home.

We suggest that customers choose between five or six people as their emergency contacts. It is best to have people who are able to get to your home quick and easy.
